The 2020 Toyota Highlander is a family car with a lot of tech and unlike some of its immediate competition such as the Hyundai Palisade or Kia Telluride, it does come with a Wi-Fi Hotspot. Let’s talk about why the Highlander comes with a Wi-Fi Hotspot and what it can be used for.

The 2020 Toyota Highlander does not come with an option for an in-car entertainment system which I think is the best. You’re able to create a much better system using some iPads or some cheap Amazon Fire HD 10 tablets. I think this is a much better route for your family in the long term because you can by a headrest mount (either from Toyota directly or a cheap one on Amazon) and then connect the devices to the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot.
This will in turn, save you a lot of money as opposed to well over 1,000 dollar in-car entertainment systems that are on the market. The hotspot though is not free it does have a recurring cost of around $20 a month.
But to compare, let’s assume you buy some fire HD tablets, and headrest mounts you could buy 2 (one for each of the first row seat backs (you could even do it for the third-row if you wanted)) at ($20*2) + ($150*2) around $340. If you had captain chairs in the second row you could even add 4 screens if you really wanted for $680 which is still far less than most systems. You also get the benefit of installing apps, watching netflix, and just having a better device all around.
Yes There Is An In-Car Wi-Fi Hotspot
So to summarize yes there is an in-car Wi-Fi Hotspot and there are no rear entertainment options. You’re much better off grabbing tablets off of Amazon and paying the $20 a month for the hotspot to get a better and more modern entertainment system.
